Cancer-Stricken 11-Year-Old Scores Touchdown For Jerusalem Lions
11-year-old Uriel Wang knows more about grit and determination than any Israeli Football League player, even those who are grizzled IDF veterans. Uriel is fighting a rare kind of leukemia normally found in adults and has been diagnosed 4 separate times and has been through 2 bone marrow transplants. His rare genetic make-up (Uriel has Chinese, American and Yemenite heritage) makes it extremely difficult for him to find potential matches.
Uriel loves football, and has been adopted by the Jerusalem ‘Big Blue’ Lions, a perennial IFL powerhouse. He got a chance to play a down in the Lions’ regular season opener against their local rival, the Judean Rebels, and the result was beautiful:
The IFL is proud of the Lions and proud to be able to help Uriel in his fight, even if it’s just a little bit.
